Julie Henneberg

Owner & Head Instructor at Neshama

“Yoga has meant many things to me over the years. At different times it has been a cherished hobby, a form of therapy, and a way of staying in shape. Now I would say it is my art. From the beginning I have noticed that as my yoga practice evolves, other profound changes occur in other parts of my life. Yoga has changed how I approach work, relationships, taking care of myself and making critical decisions. It is my ambition to share the transformative power of yoga with other people and especially women.”

Julie took her first yoga class when she was 19. She had taken dance classes as a child, but found the environment too toxic to continue. Not really understanding one school of yoga from another, she first enrolled in Birkram yoga classes, then Ashtanga and Iyengar. Those schools all focus on discipline and precision. Eventually she found Vinyasa, a style that offers a more fluid, creative approach. During her university studies she dedicated herself to daily practice, and eventually pursued a teacher training program with YogaWorks.

Over the past deCade Julie has followed 1000+ hours of training with senior teachers specialized in therapeutic yoga, spiritual growth, creative programming and holistic wellbeing. The studio program spans all of these elements, allowing students learn for themselves how yoga can serve as a catalyst for positive change in their lives.

Although serious by nature, Julie teaches with lightness. When you step into Neshama you will hear her very loud and contagious laugh!

Julie is Canadian and moved to Belgium in 2016. She lives in Kuringen (Hasselt) with her partner and two daughters.
