We are honoured to host international yoga teacher Bruce Chung for this special mobility workshop series. Beginners and experienced students alike will benefit from this unique immersion.
Bruce believes yoga is a practice of doing and being. A Canadian yoga teacher who has lived and taught yoga on 4 continents since he started teaching in 2008, Bruce believes in the potential of yoga to transform any practitioner.
Bruce’s practice and thus teaching is multi-layered and influenced by the ongoing studies, both with teachers and through self, and uniquely the experiences and connections he has had through his globe-trotting.
His teaching style varies depending on the class he’s leading, the energy of the students, and his own frame of mind on that particular day. But whether the class is dynamic and energising, or grounding and nurturing, you can be assured that Bruce offers intelligence in his offerings that encourage awareness and introspection.
A word on mobility
Mobility is the amount of active control you possess over your whole range of motion. The greater your mobility, the greater your potential to move safely, effectively, and efficiently. Mobility refers to the ability to move a joint.
Flexibility is often used interchangeably with mobility, which is incorrect. Although flexibility is a component of mobility, flexibility specifically refers to passive range through which a muscle can move or be moved. It is possible for a student to have extreme flexibility, but minimal mobility.
Mobility work is important for any mover, yogis included. It ensures that you are moving optimally and minimising your risk of injury.
Mobility Flow Masterclass
This masterclass focuses on integrating mobility exercises within an asana practice.
Join Bruce as he leads you through a dynamic practice that will expand your potential, and through a harnessing of your own strength, leave you feeling empowered.
Using Mobility to Unlock Your Practice
This comprehensive workshop will look at the body in 3 parts: the spine, upper limbs, and lower limbs. Each session will work through CARs (controlled articular rotations), PAILs and RAILs (progressive angle isometric loading and regressive angle isometric loading), and teach you how to integrate these FRC principles into an asana practice.
Each session will also include advanced postures such as backbends, arm balances, and inversions, and look at how honing your mobility will help you practice these asanas with greater intelligence and safety.
You will leave this workshop understanding how to isolate joint movement, activate your core to prevent or limit compensation, and integrate these principles into your own yoga practice.
